After six years as the National Museum of Natural History’s Associate Director for Science and Global Genome Initiative co-lead, Jonathan Coddington became Director of the Global Genome Initiative in November 2014.  He is also a Senior Scientist in the Department of Entomology.  His research interests span the systematics and evolution of spiders, especially orbweavers; issues in systematic theory and method, the theory and design of biological inventories, and, most recently, biodiversity genomics. Dr. Coddington has a Ph.D. in Biology from Harvard University.
